Cayde-6 -- voiced by the one and only Nathan Fillion -- is basically the alien robot version of Firefly's Captain Mal. He's the life of the party, a wise-cracking robo-man who lightens the mood whenever he opens his metal trap.
How fitting, then, that Cayde-6 is here to give us a first taste of what's to come in Destiny 2. This freshly released cinematic teaser doesn't tell you anything explicit about the game, but it does deliver a date and time for the formal sequel reveal: March 30, at 1 p.m. ET.

If you just came here for the teaser, you did the thing. Nice job. I hope you enjoyed. For my fellow giant Destinyfans... let's nerd the f*ck out.
What's going on here. Cayde is sitting in a bar, drinking. Said bar appears to be in the middle of a war zone -- which doesn't faze Cayde in the slightest. He just wants to tell his story and listen to the blues.
How about that story?
In the handful of blink-and-you'll-miss-it flashbacks, it appears that the aggressors are Cabal forces. One brief scene shows Cayde holding his ground next to a Titan -- probably Commander Zavala -- in a location that looks a bit like the Hall of Guardians. The same place Cayde, Zavala, and Ikora hung out in the original game.
The teaser ends with the camera pulling away to reveal that half of Cayde's bar is in ruins. Beyond the crumbling walls we can see a war-torn city -- almost certainly The Last City, which we've only ever seen from the vantage point of Destiny's Tower.
If you listen carefully at the very end, you can hear a voice that sounds an awful lot like Zavala (Lance Reddick) barking an order. "Cayde, any day now!"
So the Cabal attacked Earth, it seems. Not just the Tower, which may or may not be gone. Earth is burning. It's a bad time for the Guardians.
It's worth noting: the little scraps of story we're able to pick up here fall in line with some of the Destinysequel rumors that have been floating around. A February post on the DestinyTheGame subreddit rounds up the most relevant bits.
Alternatively, you can just wait for March 30 to see what the worldwide reveal trailer brings. Now that the hype train is officially rolling, expect things to get a lot more exciting for Destinyfans very, very soon.
