本屆法國26人世界盃名單中 ，队踢幾乎每位球員都有非洲血統 ，好法被外界嘲諷是国球「非洲聯隊」 ，在「高盧雄雞」無緣完成衛冕目標後，波盈被官肯亞總統魯托（William Ruto）也在推特發文勉勵法國 ：「我的足球证肯非洲隊踢了一場精采的比賽」 ，似乎認證法國就是世足「非洲聯隊」的說法 。
攤開法國世足冠軍戰先發11人名單，法国非洲方认非洲隻有吉魯（Olivier Giroud） 、联队格裏茲曼（Antoine Griezmann） 、亚总小賀南德茲（Theo Hernandez）及洛裏斯（Hugo Lloris）為血統純正的歐洲白人 ，對陣阿根廷多半時間處於落後，法國總教練德尚（Didier Deschamps）陸續把替補人員換上後，一度出現除了守門員洛裏斯外 ，其他10位都是黑人球員的狀況 。
2018年法國順利舉起大力神盃 ，當時陣容已經有15位非裔球員 ，若非金潘比（Presnel Kimpembe） 、普巴（Paul Pogba） 、肯特（N'Golo Kante）等人因傷需要休養 ，本屆法國將有更多黑人球星助陣 。
此外4強對陣北非球隊摩洛哥 ，法國黑人球員的數量甚至比對方還要多 ，作為一支非洲隊伍，摩洛哥連一名純正的黑人球員都沒有。而魯托還在此文配了一張15位具有非洲血統的法國球員照片 ，隻是當中並沒有來自肯亞的球員。
