Twitter has started testing out a new Periscope button on some mobile users, allowing you to easily start a live Periscope broadcast and tweet it out right from the Twitter app.

The new live button appears next to the photo and video buttons when you compose a tweet, which you could easily miss if you pull up your keyboard immediately.

The test has only rolled out to a small group of iOS users, a Twitter spokesperson told Mashable, while a small percentage of Android users got the live button a few weeks ago. Eventually all mobile users will get the live button.

When you hit the button, Twitter will open up your Periscope app for you, or suggest you download it if you don't already have it.

Twitter will open up your Periscope app for you

Twitter's new Live button does not come as a surprise. Facebook Live has boomed over the past couple months and Periscope has struggled to stay relevant.

In early May, Periscope took a major turn, allowing users to save broadcasts if they wanted to -- similar to how Facebook Live videos are automatically saved once they conclude. Before then, Periscope broadcasts were only viewable for 24 hours after the live broadcast.

By incorporating a Periscope button right into Twitter, the app is making it easier for users to jump quickly into a live video every time they compose a tweet. Just because Facebook Live has exploded in popularity doesn't mean there isn't a place for Periscope -- at least that's what Twitter is thinking.
