上半場補時階段 ，不让巴恩斯禁區內手球送點 ，点凯第仅這一次依舊是恩连熱刺頭號點球手凱恩站在了點球點前 ，隨後凱恩穩穩命中 ，场点為球隊取得領先。射破手榜目前，门孙孫興慜以21粒進球排在英超本賽季射手榜第二位 ，兴慜第一位的是利物浦前鋒薩拉赫（22球）。而在上一場熱刺3-0戰勝阿森納的比賽中 ，白百合也獲得了一個點球，當時主罰的也是凱恩 。雖然凱恩罰進了點球 ，但由於孫興慜有望拿到本賽季的金靴 ，因此不少人認為 ，凱恩應該將點球讓給孫興慜。若孫興慜拿到本賽季英超金靴 ，那麽他將創造亞洲球員的新紀錄 。
但是 ，作為球隊頭號點球手 ，凱恩來主罰點球似乎也無可厚非。本賽季 ，凱恩主罰的四粒點球全部命中 ，而他已經連續罰進23粒點球 ，孫興慜在罰點方麵的經驗肯定不如凱恩 ，而且在最關鍵的爭四之戰，球隊必然不敢冒險臨時換人罰點 。
