Because TV networks never met a joke they couldn't drive into the ground, David S. Pumpkins -- Tom Hanks' breakout Saturday Night Livecharacter -- is getting his own animated Halloween special, NBC announced Thursday.
Hanks will lend his voice to the half-hour project, which will air on NBC on Oct. 28. His vocal talents will be accompanied by the dulcet tones of Game of Thrones star Peter Dinklage (who's no stranger to viral SNLsketches himself), and skit creators Streeter Seidell, Mikey Day and Bobby Moynihan.
Here's how NBC describes the one-off: "Set in a small suburban town on All Hallows’ Eve, the special centers on David Pumpkins and his skeleton sidekicks who show a young boy and his sister the true meaning of Halloween, answering none of their questions along the way."
The joke was pretty one-note the first time Hanks attempted it -- and yet simultaneously also strangely hypnotic -- so we can't wait to see just how grating it becomes over 30 minutes!
Bento Box Entertainment -- the company behind Fox's Bob's Burgersand Hulu's The Awesomes -- will provide the animation.
