Slytherins, always causing trouble.

In what's perhaps a perfect metaphor for the Harry Potter universe, a snake somehow snuck into an Australian student's Gryffindor print school bag on Tuesday.

The unnamed student went to grab her lunch when she discovered a red-bellied black snake lurking in the front pocket of the bag, as per a photo posted by Snake Catchers Brisbane, Ipswich, Logan & Gold Coast on Facebook.

Of course, snakes like to hide in warm, dark places, and the comfort of a Harry Potter-themed backpack would've been alluring to this critter.

Snake catcher Lana Field told the Brisbane Timesthe snake was released into a wildlife corridor located well away from the school, which apparently gets its fair share of snakes now and then.

"The red bellies eat lizards and frogs and so I wouldn’t be surprised if there are probably lizards around the area where the kids keep their bags and the gardens nearby," Field told the newspaper.

While the red bellied black snake is often perceived as dangerous, the reality is they're quite a shy snake and will only bite if you really provoke it, according to the Australian Museum.
