當時比賽進行到第47分鍾，裁吹意大利獲得了一次右側角球機會 ，利角因西涅與貝拉爾迪都站在球的位反附近。最終因西涅沒有選擇直接傳中 ，向国而是奥式選擇了戰術角球的方式 ，他將球踢給了貝拉爾迪 。而就在貝拉爾迪拿球後，邊裁卻突然舉起旗子示意貝拉爾迪越位在先。
從身位上看 ，貝拉爾迪得球時確實處於“越位”位置 ，但是根據足球的規則 ，貝拉爾迪的“越位”在規則允許範圍以內 。因為按照規則 ，球員直接接得球門球 、角球 、界外球沒有越位 。
這個球的判罰也肯定會讓中國球迷想起2020年初 ，中國國奧隊的那次角球越位判罰。而兩者也有區別，當年中國國奧隊的那次戰術角球越位的判罰是正確的 。
當時那場與烏茲別克斯坦的比賽進行到第23分鍾，中國隊11號陳彬彬和8號段劉愚準備開出戰術角球 。然而 ，當陳彬彬將球交給段劉愚之後 ，自己已經處在了越位位置 ，但他還是在隊友停球之後 ，起腳傳中 。這一幕就在邊裁的眼皮底下發生 ，他果斷判罰中國隊越位 。
