但兩個小組將會引發爭議，伊朗预赛即伊朗隊所在的失世第三小組以及澳大利亞隊所在的第二小組。

亞足聯在本月11日、12日連續公布了今年亞冠聯賽小組賽以及延期後世預賽40強賽各個小組的承辦地 ，原本對獲得主辦權期望很高的伊朗可以說是“最大的輸家” ，不僅亞冠連一個小組賽的主辦權都未能獲得 ，甚至連40強賽小組賽的主辦權也旁落巴林 。伊朗各界在一致對外 、“炮轟”亞足聯與國際足聯。
