Chris apparently described themselves as a 50-something lesbian in New York City who is voting for Trump but doesn't tell anyone that fact.

Fox News, predictably, jumped all over this story, and Eric Trump was more than happy to claim that many in the LGBTQ community were actually Trump voters. It was his attempt to express this idea that led to the not-coming-out-but-sounding-like-coming-out confusion. Trump seems to have tried to quote an imagined or hypothetical LGBTQ person but instead made it sound like he was coming out. Here's what he said in full.
