The White House wants unmitigated power to capture your drones.

The Trump administration is asking members of Congress to consider legislation that would allow officials to do whatever the f*ck they want to any drone they deem a threat to a "covered facility," according to a document published by The New York Times.

That means they can obliterate the drones out of the sky, capture them, take them apart, hack them, whatever.

The proposed legislation mentions protecting privacy and civil liberties several times, but also says "covered persons" can't be subject to any type of legal action that results in a captured, tracked, or destroyed drone.

Terms are also left vague in the 10-page document. A "covered facility" is something that would be decided at a later date, and "covered person" applies to federal agents and members of the military, but the wording makes it broad enough to seemingly cover police as well.

"The term 'covered person' means any member of the Armed Forces, a Federal officer, employee, agent, or contractor, or any other individual that is designated by the head of a department or agency ..." the document says.

The administration says it's concerned that drones can spy and carry explosives, and wants the power to stop any drone before the skies are filled with them.

So, if the legislation passes and you value your drone, keep an eye out for federal agents.
