President Donald Trump announced the United States will withdraw from the Paris Agreement because it "fails to serve America's interest."
The agreement is widely viewed as the world's best and last chance to avoid the disastrous effects of climate change. The deal isn't just for the good of America, it's for the benefit of the world.
Though Trump said he will try to renegotiate the deal, the internet was lit with commentary. Some people were enraged. Others claimed this was an embarrassing day to be American. Mostly, people were just ashamed (and somehow still shocked) that Trump chose this path for the country in such a dire time.
