When an unknown passenger threw two chickens on to a packed train in Sydney, Australia, before fleeing on Wednesday, it seemed a lot like an act of absurdist comedy. But it's a mystery really.

"He just dumped them," an unnamed woman holding one of the chickens told 7 News.

Named Betty and Mumbles, the lost pair were returned home on Thursday morning. They did, however, look very cute sitting in a box in the stationmaster's office.
