Tragic news: Snowpierceris no more.
After three seasons on TNT, the post-apocalyptic drama focused on class warfare and climate change is being canceled, Deadline first reported. The climate fiction thriller starring Daveed Diggs and Jennifer Connolly was based on the 1982 French graphic novel La Transperceneigeby Jacques Lob and Jean-Marc Rochette and then, later, on Bong Joon-ho’s 2013 adaption.

"We can confirm that TNT will not air season four of Snowpiercer,"a spokesperson for the network said in a statement to Deadline. "This was a difficult decision, but our admiration for the talented writers, actors and crew who brought Snowpiercer’sextraordinary post-apocalyptic world to life remains strong. We have been working collaboratively with the producers since last year to help the series find a new home where fans can continue to enjoy the compelling story and exceptional visual experience. We look forward to working with them on future projects."
Deadline reported that the show's removal from TNT was allegedly a tax write-off for Warner Bros. Discovery network. It almost seems fitting that a show determined to display the problems with a capitalist system would be brought down by a remarkably capitalistic move.
It's not unprecedented for a cult-favorite sci-fi show to be given new life. Syfy canceled The Expanseafter its third season but was brought back from the dead by Amazon Prime and was allowed to finish its story. Hell, Futurama got canceled twice and now it's being revived againby Hulu.
The show was the last original scripted series on TNT — now, there are none. As for now, however, this isn't the end of the Snowpiercer franchise: It appears that Tomorrow Studios, the studio behind the show, is shopping out the final season to streaming services, as well as a prequel, and a sequel.
