剛剛以主力身份隨西班牙隊征戰歐洲杯的佩德裏 ，接下來還要參加奧運會男足比賽 。科曼認為 ，佩德裏的比賽任務過於繁重，“對於一名球員來說 ，不論年齡大小 ，在一個夏天裏接連參加兩項大賽都是不合適的 。佩德裏才18歲，就已經踢了所有的比賽 ，休息4天後又要去日本 。等他歸來時 ，西甲聯賽都已經開始了 。”
“我們要保護球員 ，而從我個人的觀點來看 ，奧運會足球項目的重要性或許不如田徑項目 。我明白球員們都是夾在俱樂部和足協之間 ，他們必須要接受這些事情 。”
