BTS' new English-language bop "Dynamite" smashed a YouTube record last week, gaining the most views within 24 hours of any music video in the site's history. Now the Bangtan Boys have reached yet another milestone, with the pastel-colored clip becoming YouTube's most commented on music video ever.

According to Chart Data, BTS' "Dynamite" now holds the title for most commented on music video on YouTube, racking up over 6.5 million comments since its August 21 release. The previous record was also held by BTS, with almost 6.3 million comments on their 2017 song "DNA" (which, incidentally, is a banger you should absolutely listen to).

Before BTS' fans, known as Armys, took them to the top, the previous record holder was their fellow South Korean PSY, whose 2012 global hit "Gangnam Style" sits at over 5 million comments.

BTS have also been shining through the charts with a little funk and soul, with "Dynamite" debuting at No. 1 on Billboard's Hottest 100. The group is the first entirely South Korean act to reach the top of the chart.

"When I checked the chart, I wasn't sure this webpage I was looking at was really real," said singer Jungkook at a press conference on Wednesday, which Mashable attended via livestream. "I am so thankful to all the other members, and being able to be a part of such a milestone is a great honor."

BTS' leader RM attributed the historic achievement partly to "Dynamite" being "easy to sing and hum along with," thus capturing a wider American audience who might not otherwise be familiar with their work.

"It doesn't have an overarching macro-level message," said RM at the press event. "Sometimes, simpler messages really get across. I dare say that all these factors came together to create this achievement. I think we were very lucky. I think it's our responsibility to understand this and continue to do this."

BTS now have their sights set on a solo Grammys performance, having previously graced the stage alongside Lil Nas X for "Seoul Town Road."

"Now I would like to put on a single performance, just BTS on the Grammy Awards stage," said rapper Suga. "Just getting to perform on the Grammy Awards stage is our goal."

"In order for COVID-19 to end, so many people are doing their best and trying their best to crack down on this disease," said singer Jimin. "What we can do is to heal these people to the best of our abilities. This will be our new goal."
