Twenty-one films into the megafranchise, the Marvel Cinematic Universe is introducing its first female director.
Mashablehas confirmed that the studio has hired the duo of Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck to helm Captain Marvel, the first solo female superhero movie from the series. Oscar winner Brie Larson is already set to star as the most singularly powerful hero in Marvel's stable.

Captain Marvelwill be a major change of pace for them -- as their most expensive and most high-profile movie yet.
Marvel Studios has been very clear that they wanted women to steer the ship for Captain Marvel. Previously, they hired Nicole Perlman (Guardians of the Galaxy) and Meg LeFauve (Inside Out) to write the script.
Captain Marvelis scheduled for release on March 8, 2019.
