Twitter is adding a new feature to help users figure out what's "happening now." 。
The company introduced a new feature today that will highlight sports games, breaking news, and other topics at the top of its users' timelines. 。

Twitter says the "happening now" events will be personalized to each user based on their interests and what types of accounts they follow. 。
The company says for now the plan is to focus on sports, with football, baseball, soccer, hockey, and basketball updates, but other topics will be added in the future. 。

Tapping into one of the games in the "happening now" section is a lot like diving into a trending topic on Twitter. It surfaces tweets related to the event, as well as real-time game scores, which are pinned to the top of the feed. 。
In a tweet, Twitter's VP of Product Keith Coleman said the company was "just scratching the surface" with the new feature for sports scores. 。

The company confirmed the feature will start with sports and expand to breaking news, entertainment, and other topics over the next few weeks. 。
The update is just the latest way Twitter has sought to draw in sports fans by emphasizing live coverage. In August, the company cut a deal with digital sports network Stadium for its round-the-clock college sports coverage. Twitter has also played host to live streams of Thursday-night NFL games and MLB games.。
