The 2017 Sundance Film Festival will introduce the Cinetransformer, a portable 90-seat theater that will have a location in the heart of Park City.
Visitors will have access to panels and screenings, as well as a full concession stand. This is part of Sundance's ongoing effort to integrate the festival into its hometown and and not limit it to traditional theaters.
"One of the most exciting things about the evolution of Sundance is how the Festival has become more and more entwined in the fabric of Park City itself," said Sundance Institute's Managing Director Sarah Pearce. "The Cinetransformer pushes that trend even further, literally bringing the Festival and its films out into the city's streets and to the independent film lovers who come here."
In previous years, the Sundance Institute has converted a basketball court and a synagogue into screening venues. With the Cinetransformer, any corner of downtown Park City can become a theater.
