The Rivian Adventure Network is designed to be for Rivian electric truck and SUV drivers what the Tesla Supercharger network is for Tesla drivers.
Announced on Thursday, the Rivian network is a new collection of fast charging stations for Rivian owners. A separate Rivian network of slower charging stations will be open to any EV driver.
Rivian, which hasn't delivered its R1T truck or R1S SUV yet because of COVID-related delays, is promising more than 3,500 fast charger plugs at 600 sites across the U.S. and parts of Canada by the end of 2023.
That means drivers will be able to get 140 miles of range on the electric battery by plugging in for 20 minutes. The delayed $67,500 R1T is expected to launch this summer with about 300 miles on a single full charge.

The fast charging network is reminiscent of Tesla's exclusive Supercharger stations, that are only open to, well, Teslas. Tesla has 20,000 Superchargers across the world that juice up to 200 miles in 15 minutes.

But unlike Tesla, a second network, called Rivian Waypoints, will be open to anybody with an EV. That'll have 10,000 chargers across the U.S. and Canada by the end of 2023. So a Tesla owner, or a Chevy Bolt EV driver, could also use the those plugs to recharge, but at a slower rate. It takes at least four hours to go from a dead battery to full.

Rivian's public charging stations will be installed at every Colorado state park starting in July. All 42 state parks will have a Level 2 charger for Rivian's rugged EVs and anyone else who needs a charge.
