Erin Andrews, the famed FOX Sports reporter and fixture of NFL sidelines, battled cervical cancer during the season, she revealed Tuesday.
In a story on Sports Illustrated's MMQB, Andrews tells how she underwent surgery in October, then proceeded to reassume her role on the sidelines five days later, despite the doctor's orders.

Let’s just say the doctor didn’t recommend that,” Andrews said. “But just as I felt during my trial, sports were my escape. I needed to be with my crew.” She didn't miss a single game this season.
Andrews had a second procedure on Nov. 1, and found out a couple weeks later that she wouldn't need radiation or chemotherapy — good news after a rough year for the 38-year-old. In March, Andrews went to court and had to relive the traumatic details of her 2008 stalking incident, when a man video taped her changing clothes by altering her hotel room peephole.
She won $55 million in the settlement, and she beat cancer.
