澳大利亞足協18日表示 ，澳大奥运澳大利亞男足近期將前往西班牙參與一係列足球賽事 ，利亚作為其備戰東京奧運會的男足一部分準備工作 。
澳足協表示，将前從6月2日開始 ，往西這批男足隊員將在西班牙南部城市馬爾韋利亞與愛爾蘭的班牙备战U21國家隊 、沙特隊 、参赛羅馬尼亞隊和墨西哥隊進行四場友誼賽，东京其中 ，澳大奥运後三支隊伍均已獲得了東京奧運會的利亚參賽資格 。
曾代表澳大利亞男足參加1988年漢城奧運會的男足澳青年隊主教練加裏·範·埃格蒙德 ，澳U17男隊主教練特雷弗·摩根將隨隊一同前往西班牙 ，将前並通過在當地的往西訓練和比賽挑選出表現優異的選手 ，推薦給澳大利亞國奧隊主教練格雷厄姆·阿諾德 。班牙备战
澳大利亞國奧隊將在6月底確定最終人選 ，参赛並在7月初前往日本進行賽前集訓 。
此次東京奧運會是澳大利亞男足繼2008年北京奧運會後再次拿到奧運會參賽資格 ，也是2004年雅典奧運會後該國首次男女足均拿到參賽資格 。
