A country singer whose name no one needs to know has released a song about the NFL #TakeAKnee protests. It's called "Take A Knee, My Ass (I Won't Take a Knee)."

The singer expresses how he just can't understand why anyone would have any problems with the Land of the Free, and choose to protest police brutality and racial inequality and injustice with an attention-grabbing, conversation-changing public statement.
There's no need to listen to this song. It's trash. But if you really want to, you can do so here.
As the singer toes the Trumpian line that kneeling during the national anthem is disrespectful to the troops, he rolls through every "freedom isn't free" cliché imaginable about this great nation, while totally disregarding that the protests might have any meaning beyond blatant disrespect for the flag.

The song represents the most insidious form of bigotry masked as patriotism. It's simplistic, divisive, and wrong-headed. Let's not give this inane line of thought that "protest = military disrespect" any more air time.
