Some MacBook Pros have debilitating battery problems. Apple has a fix for that.

Tim Cook's tech empire posted a new support page on Tuesday explaining that a "very small number" of people using 2016 and 2017 MacBook Pro models have experienced an issue where the battery won't charge past 1 percent.

Anyone suffering from this issue can contact Apple to arrange for an examination and free battery replacement.

You almost certainly already know if your MacBook's battery is doing this, but if not, there's an easy way to check. MacOS Big Sur users can go to the "System Preferences" area of the Apple menu and find the "Battery" section to check the health of their MacBook's battery. If you're on Catalina or earlier, just hold the Option key and click the battery icon in the upper right corner of the screen.

In either case, you'll see text labeling your battery as either "Normal" or "Service Recommended." If it's the latter, congratulations! You need to send your MacBook into Apple and use another device in the meantime. Apple also recommends updating to the latest system software to prevent issues like this from happening.
