People have strong feelings when it comes to Starbursts flavors. For President Donald Trump, his preferences are red and pink.
When a politician learned of this particular quirk, he used it to his advantage to woo the president. If you're looking to worm your way into Trump's inner circle then you may want to follow House majority leader Kevin McCarthy's lead.
In a story chronicling McCarthy's rise in Washington, both as Trump's friend and fixer, the Washington Postreported that McCarthy had an aide sort through a "plentiful supply" of Starbursts to select only the red and pink ones as a gift for the president. The specially curated Starbursts went in a jar with McCarthy's name on it and then off to the White House, where Trump reportedly accepted it with a grin.
“He remembers everything,” McCarthy said to the Post. “Of course I put my name on the jar.”
Some may call it bribery. Others may say it's politics. Many will say it's not newsworthy, but hey, we all have a lot of opinions on it. After all, the best Starburst flavor debate has been raging for years online, with Starburst making a special bag of strawberry, watermelon, and cherry-flavored chews marketed as "FavoRed."

But we all know what the real answer is: It's pink.
