此前 ，欧洲英格蘭隊主帥索斯蓋特公布了參加2020歐洲杯的杯官26人大名單，其中，林皇索斯蓋特征召了特裏皮爾 、无缘沃克 、欧洲裏斯-詹姆斯 、杯官阿諾德4名右後衛 。林皇不幸的无缘是，在英格蘭與奧地利的欧洲熱身賽尾聲階段，利物浦球員阿諾德在無對抗的情況下受傷，傷情為肌肉二級撕裂 ，傷情預計續約4-6周恢複 。隨後 ，英格蘭隊官方宣布 ，阿諾德因傷退出本屆歐洲杯 ，索斯蓋特將再補召一名球員入選。英國媒體表示林加德 、普勞斯 、沃特金斯、拉姆斯代爾 、戈弗雷 、和本-懷特都有可能入選 ，但其中 ，林加德在媒體和球迷中呼聲最高。
