Beyond Star Trek Beyondthere is more Star Trek.
The new movie isn't even out yet, but Paramount just officially confirmed a fourth entry in the reboot series. There's no release date set yet, but the studio confirmed that Chris Hemsworth will return.
SEE ALSO:Billionaire Amazon founder Jeff Bezos is a 'Star Trek Beyond' alienBefore the Thorstar assumed the mantle of Marvel's God of Thunder he had a cameo appearance in J.J. Abrams' 2009 Star Trekas Capt. Kirk's heroically departed dad, George. Although "exploded in deep space" seemed like a pretty definitive end at the time, Pa Kirk will return, somehow, in the fourth Trek.
He'll join his returning on-screen son, Chris Pine, as well as unspecified "remaining" members of the cast. There's no mention in the announce of Paramount's plans to re-cast Pavel Chekov -- played by Anton Yelchin, who was fatally injured in a tragic accident -- and the studio isn't commenting at this time.
This is all the announcement has to say about the untitled fourth Trekmovie's story:
In the next installment of the epic space adventure, Chris Pine’s Captain Kirk will cross paths with a man he never had a chance to meet, but whose legacy has haunted him since the day he was born: his father.
Hemsworth gives the next Trekmovie the added weight of a well-established Marvel action hero's star appeal. He had only recently been cast in the 2009 movie Thorwhen he appeared in the opening scenes of Star Trek, but times have changed.
The Thorstar went on to appear in a sequel plus two Avengersmovies, and he'll likely have appeared in 2017's Thor: Ragnarok(and possibly 2018's next Avengers) before the new Trek surfaces.
