北京時間9月3日淩晨 ，感谢给非曼聯官方宣布 ，卡瓦C羅新賽季將身披7號球衣 ，尼把而原來的号球7號卡瓦尼改穿21號 ，C羅時隔12年再披紅魔7號 。衣让對於卡瓦尼的感谢给非大度讓球衣，C羅也表示了感謝 。卡瓦
C羅 ：“我起初並不確定是尼把否能重新身披7號戰袍 ，但卡瓦尼很大度地把號碼讓給了我 。号球我真的衣让十分感謝他。”
在C羅第一次為曼聯效力時 ，感谢给非弗格森爵士就將7號球衣給了C羅 。卡瓦在加盟皇馬之後 ，尼把因為勞爾的号球緣故 ，C羅短暫披上9號球衣 ，衣让之後一直身穿7號球衣 。在轉會尤文之後 ，誇德拉多也是將7號球衣讓給了C羅 。另外 ，“CR7”也成為了一個價值極高的商業符號 。
此次重返曼聯 ，因為紅魔的7號已屬於卡瓦尼 ，而且已經完成新賽季注冊與出場 ，按照英超規定 ，除非卡瓦尼夏窗離隊，否則C羅本賽季將無法穿7號 。但卡瓦尼願意主動讓賢 ，曼聯也向英超官方提出了特別申請 ，最終英超聯盟予以同意！
