此前 ，冲超武漢三鎮及梅州客家分或中甲冠 、史无亞軍 ，前例直接獲得衝超名額 。支中
下賽季 ，甲球中超聯賽將由16支球隊擴軍至18支 。队齐本賽季中超第15 、完成16名將和中甲第3 、冲超4名爭奪兩個中超名額 。史无成都蓉城、浙江隊分別戰勝了大連人隊以及青島隊成功衝超 。
加上此前直接升超的武漢三鎮和梅州客家 ，新賽季有4支中甲球隊升超，2022中超將有18支球隊參賽！
