Elon Musk loves standing in front of massive videos of planets, whether it's Mars or Earth.
And on Friday, he pulled off his planet-loving stagecraft again to promote Tesla's new Powerwall 2 battery for the home and office, as well as a new line of solar power roof tiles.

In typical Elon fashion, the founder of the company spoke about why the releases are important tools to help ease the effects of global warming. In short, Musk wants to make solar power as cool as Tesla has made the electric car.
And while solar panels for roofs have existed for years now, Tesla's "special snowflake" panels, as Musk referred to them, are quite different. Unlike normal solar panels, Tesla's roof solar panels are individually unique, adding to a more organic feel. That design point is huge, as it could spell the difference between a homeowner adopting solar panels, or passing on them for fear of having their roof look like the International Space Station.
Additionally, the Tesla roof tiles are also quite durable under pressure, as a durability test Tesla posted on Twitter on Saturday proved.

However, despite its effectiveness, solar power remains a relatively underused alternatively power source.
So, hopefully, Musk's latest dramatic product reveal can help inch the technology closer to becoming a staple of construction.
