An impressively gigantic portrait of Bob Ross loomed over TwitchCon attendees this past weekend. But, unlike Ross's paintings, this portrait was made with thousands of beads.

The portrait required over 450,000 Perler beads and took half a year to put together with the help of 24 people, Kotakureported Monday.

Ross has been an icon of creativity and positivity for decades, and his PBS show The Joy of Paintinghas made a bit of a comeback since online video streaming became popular. Twitch has streamed episodes of The Joy of Paintingsince May, helping to make the educational painter even more popular, especially in the gaming community.
The TwitchCon portrait was thought-up by Twitch streamer Edward Flabberjackson, who took put a picture of Bob Ross into Photoshop and changed it so the colors fit the only 44 available Perler bead colors, then worked with 23 other people to lay out the beads using the picture as a reference, he told Kotaku.

Ross also inspired a group painting at TwitchCon, where hundreds of participants followed along with a painter as they created their own Ross-like landscape paintings.
