朗尼克現年63歲 ，克出被稱為當代德國足壇教練的任临“教父” ，此前他在莫斯科火車頭擔任體育總監。时主帅执束朗尼克還曾執教過烏爾姆、教至季结斯圖加特 、本赛漢諾威96 、曼联沙爾克04 、官方霍芬海姆 、朗尼萊比錫等球隊 。克出朗尼克曾帶領升班馬霍芬海姆拿下過德甲半程冠軍，任临率沙爾克04打進歐冠四強 。时主帅执束在朗尼克擔任萊比錫總監期間 ，教至季结球隊完成過從第四級別聯賽到德甲和歐冠的飛躍 。
據《曼徹斯特晚報》消息 ，朗尼克曾拒絕了曼聯開出的第一份合同，在收到曼聯修改之後的條款之後 ，朗尼克接受了曼聯的邀請。據悉 ，朗尼克簽訂了一份為期兩年半的合同 。其中 ，前半年作為主教練執教球隊 ，後兩年則退居幕後 ，擔任俱樂部的技術顧問 ，繼續為曼聯服務 。
在戰術設計上 ，朗尼克更加推崇眼下流行的高位逼搶 ，更善於提攜年輕人上位，對於眼下非門將首發隻有C羅一人年過30的曼聯而言 ，推行這一改革的阻力並不大。
