Nicknamed "the French Banksy", JR started his career by taking pictures of his friends and the residents of Les Bosquets -- a difficult neighborhood in Clichy-sous-Bois, a few miles outside of Paris -- and then pasting them supersized on the neighrbouhood's walls.
He rose to fame after the riots of 2005, travelling the world with his large-scale portraits.
