The most iconic line in "Truth Hurts" originated with a tweet, and now that writer appears to be getting her due.
Producers Justin and Jeremiah Raisen recently accused Lizzo of plagiarizing portions of the song, which is currently enjoying its seventh nonconsecutive week atop the Billboard charts, from a demo the three of them wrote in 2017. On Wednesday, Lizzo denied those allegations on Instagram, claiming that only she and producer Ricky Reed were present when she wrote the track.
"The men who now claim a piece of Truth Hurts did not help me write any part of the song," she wrote.

However, Lizzo did award credit to the writer responsible for the lyric "I just took a DNA test, turns out I'm 100 percent that bitch." In 2017, Mina Lioness tweeted an extremely similar line ("I did a DNA test and found out I’m 100% that bitch"), which was later repurposed into a meme without credit. According to Lizzo's post, she wrote the song after seeing that meme, but didn't learn it came from Mina Lioness's tweet until later. (She's probably referring to October 2018, when Mina Lioness literally told her.)

Mina Lioness, who has been fighting for recognition for months, addressed the credit shortly after Lizzo's post. "I just took a DNA Test, turns out I’m a credited writer for the number one song on Billboard," she tweeted. "I want to thank Lizzo and her entire management team for embracing me and reaching out."
