《鏡報》表示 ，浦争除了曼城之外 ，狮悍藍月亮的腰预同城死敵曼聯以及聯賽競爭者利物浦 ，同樣也對卡爾文-菲利普斯有興趣，计需三家俱樂部將對此展開競爭，砸万預計簽下他的曼城曼联轉會費大約需要6000萬英鎊。不過對於曼城的利好消息是，利茲聯方麵堅稱未收到過來自曼聯的報價，而由於兩家俱樂部間的關係，卡爾文-菲利普斯也明確告知周圍人，自己絕對不會加盟紅魔。
目前在積分榜上 ，利茲聯37輪過後積35分 ，多賽一場高出降級圈1分 ，保級形勢並不樂觀。如果利茲聯最終不幸降級 ，那麽盡管卡爾文-菲利普斯可能不願離隊，但他依舊有可能被套現 。
卡爾文-菲利普斯知道自己能在別的地方拿到3倍於現在的薪水，並且還有機會在瓜迪奧拉麾下踢球 ，而能參加歐冠更是難以拒絕的誘惑 。《鏡報》同時指出 ，雖然皇馬和巴黎同樣也對卡爾文-菲利普斯有意 ，但球員本人更希望留在英超發展 。
