Get ready to kick some Poké-ass.
After months of waiting,Pokémon Goplayers have finally gotten a glimpse at the light at the end of the tunnel — trainer battles are coming to Pokémon Gothis December.
SEE ALSO:Why Pokémon fever captured so many young minds, including ours — Games to Play Before You DieTrainer battles are player vs. player encounters where you and an opponent take your teams of Pokémon and duke it out to see who's got the better collection. You'll be able to battle against friends and nearby strangers using scannable battle codes, or battle against ultra friends and best friends from anywhere.
Credit: nianticPlayers get to choose three Pokémon to battle with, so it's important to think about strategy and try to play against your opponents' weaknesses. Once the battle is done, both players get "great rewards, including a chance at rare evolution items."
So not only do you get to finally battle other Pokémon collectors, you'll get to improve your collection with rare items after battling.
As far as matchmaking goes, you don't have to worry about battling players who are way better than you. There are different battle leagues with varying CP limits (CP is basically like a Pokémon's level and determines their stats like attack and defense).
That way if you only have Pokémon with CPs in the hundreds, you won't have to battle against people with Pokémon at CPs higher than 2,000. The more you play and the better your Pokémon get, the better the league you'll get to compete in.
Niantic didn't specify exactly when trainer battles will drop, but they will be here in December.
