Internet, a new Doctor is in.
On Sunday, BBC announced that Ncuti Gatwa will take over the starring role on the long-running Doctor Whoseries. Gatwa becomes the fourteenth Doctor, pocketing the TARDIS keys from Jodie Whittaker, who held the role since 2017.

Since 2019, Gatwa has played the role of Eric Effiong on Netflix's unwavering and delightful series Sex Education. On his new role as the Doctor, Gatwa said in a statement to the BBC: "There aren’t quite the words to describe how I’m feeling. A mix of deeply honored, beyond excited and of course a little bit scared. This role and show means so much to so many around the world, including myself, and each one of my incredibly talented predecessors has handled that unique responsibility and privilege with the utmost care. I will endeavor my upmost to do the same."
Shortly after the announcement, Doctor Whoshowrunner Russell T Davies shared an image of himself with Gatwa on the 2022 Bafta TV Awards red carpet, where Gatwa was a presenter and nominated for his role on Sex Education.
Gatwa will make his debut on Doctor Whoin 2023.
