The last time Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi gave a televised address to the nation, citizens found most of the money in their wallets was useless and they had to camp outside banks and ATMs for hours and even days.

What ensued in the weeks after Nov. 8 was perhaps not anticipated by either PM Narendra Modi or his cabinet of ministers.

There has been crunch, chaos and confusion from all corners.

Hence, when news broke this afternoon that the PM will address the nation on New Year's Eve, not something he does every year, it got people curious and chatty.
