The player with the most votes from each country became the designated captain of their country's team; three more team slots were filled by the people with the next three highest vote totals. The remaining two slots were picked by the team's captain. 。

Teams without many competitive players will have a very difficult time making it to the playoffs in November; each region has a single-elimination online qualifier to determine who makes it through. The top sixteen teams, including six that will automatically qualify, will battle for the championship at BlizzCon in Anaheim, California. 。
Some of the top teams in the tournament look to be the U.S., Canada, Sweden, Finland, Germany, Russia, South Korea and China.。
